چکیده

Isozymes are enzymes catalyzing the same biochemical reaction, but differ in amino acid sequences. They usually display different kinetic parameters, or express different regulatory properties. In addition some isozymes show tissue-specific expressions. These differences are considered that isozymes have properties related to the tissue-specific environments. Aldolase, one example of isozymes, has three isozymes A, B and C, and those isozymes are produced from different genes respectively. Aldolase A is usually produced at greater amounts in adult muscle. In adult liver, while aldolase A expression is repressed, aldolase B is produced. On the other hand, aldolase C mainly works in brain. These three isozymes also show different reactivity against substrates. While some isozyme groups are well studied, there have been no reports of comprehensive analyses of isozymes. Furthermore, isozymes are not distinguished in many publicly available genome databases. This is probably because there is no clear criteria to identify isozymes. In this report, we analyzed tissue-specific gene expressions of human enzyme genes and those paralogs, and searched tissue-specific pathways, to find an apparent criterion to distinguish isozymes and to detect new isozymes.

Expression Analysis of mir-21 and mir-221 in Cancerous Tissues from Iranian Patients with Gastric Cancer

Background: Early detection is a key to survival for gastric cancer. Molecular markers such as miRNA (microRNA) can have great importance in the early diagnosis of gastric cancer. Expression of miR-21 and miR-221 are deregulated in many types of human cancers. This study aimed to investigate the differences in miRNA expression patterns within the Iranian population. Methods: Total RNA was extra...

Construction and Analysis of Tissue-Specific Protein-Protein Interaction Networks in Humans

We have studied the changes in protein-protein interaction network of 38 different tissues of the human body. 123 gene expression samples from these tissues were used to construct human protein-protein interaction network. This network is then pruned using the gene expression samples of each tissue to construct different protein-protein interaction networks corresponding to different studied ti...

Differentiation of Adipose-derived Stem Cells into Schwann Cell Phenotype in Comparison with Bone Marrow Stem Cells

Objective(s) Bone marrow is the traditional source of human multipotent mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), but adipose tissue appears to be an alternative and more readily available source. In this study, rat adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) were induced to differentiate into Schwann-like cells and compared with rat bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) for their Schwann-like cells differentiation pote...
